I was provided a free ShockDrop Case to facilitate this review. Opinions expressed are that of my own.
Thanks to Hard Candy Cases, I was given a ShockDrop protective case for my Tablet to test and review here on Frugal and Fun Mom.
According to Hard Candy Cases, they are the a top choice by schools K-12 to protect electronic devices. Personally I am constantly telling my kids to be careful with our tablet, or don’t walk around with it. I think it is just as important to protect these at home as it is at school. It is definitely not something that I can just turn around and purchase without causing some financial pains. Lets face it, tablets can be expensive.
I happen to have a Samsung Tablet GT-P5113, so I was sent a Samsung Pro 10.1″ – Shockdrop – Rugged Case – Black for my device.
The ShockDrop Case is made with shock absorbent silicone and features a soft-touch texture with ergonomic grooves to allow for a firm grip. It has reinforced corner bumpers provide 10mm of extra protection with an Integrated screen protector to prevent scratches and smudges. In addition, it has molded-in volume and power buttons plus open slots for speakers and the camera. The speakers and power cord slots open and close as well. It retails for $49.95.
Installing the Samsung Pro 10.1″ – Shockdrop – Rugged Case – Black over my tablet was easy. I simply popped the tablet into the hard cover, and then pulled the backing over the top while pushing down the parts into the slots.
The only thing I noticed that changed my user experience with the tablet, is the lip that is now across the border of the device. I had to modify how I normally touch the screen around the edge, however it is a simple adjustment. My kids made no mention of the lip of course.
I was able to touch the screen and it still detected it the same.
I have to admit that I am not brave enough to purposely drop or bang my tablet up against the wall. However, it has given me more peace of mind while my kids are walking around and playing with my device. I asked them what they thought about it, and they said it is easy to grip. My daughter said to me, “It is soft, and feels like a tire”.
