The following is a sponsored post on behalf of US Family Guide and Zaycon Foods. I received complimentary product to test and review. Opinions expressed are that of my own.
Back over the summer I posted information about a service called Zaycon Foods, and as you may recall this company sells bulk food items at cheaper prices. They do this by bringing together lots of people and adding their purchasing power into a combined food purchase. This means individuals and families pay less for their meat.
To get started with Zaycon Foods, you simply check out what products are available at their website. You then pre-select items like ribs, bacon, ground beef, or even natural fresh chicken.
Product prices are locked in, so you will know how much you are going to spend before you have committed to a purchase. Once you make your product selection, place your order along with the location you will be picking up at.
On the day of the sales event, you pick-up at a local parking lot. It is just like a drive-thru grocery. Check out my original post Zaycon Foods Provides Fresh Meat At Low Prices for more details.
As part of this posting I actually got an opportunity to check out this program first hand. I am happy to report that I received my first 40 pound chicken order in October.
Since this was the first time I would be participating in a Zaycon Foods event, picking up food in a parking lot would be a new experience for me. However, I am open to trying new things so I loaded the kids up in the car and headed over to a local church in our area. The Zaycon Foods truck was there along with a line of cars pulling up to get their meat. The line moved quickly and there was a staff of 3 friendly individuals distributing the food.
The event was organized and fast. I pulled up, gave them my name, and they cleared a spot in the back of my car for the chicken. They even put down a plastic sheet on the floor of my trunk just in case any of the content leaked out, I thought that was awesome.
After I got the meat, I headed home, and sorted out the chicken into zip lock bags. The meat was cold when I opened it up, and the chicken breasts were HUGE. I gave about half away to family members and still had plenty in my freezer. They were cut into 2 sides and I split some of those into smaller cuts just because they were so big.
The chicken tastes good, and so far I have made homemade chicken tenders, baked chicken, and used it in a recipe called Slow Cooker Chicken Peas and Carrots. We have had this a couple of times and the kids really like it.
I would definitely be open to using the Zaycon Foods service again and I really want to check out the bacon and the salmon. Since I am limited on freezer space, it would be awesome if I could go in with multiple family members or friends to purchase a variety of meats.
Have you ever purchased from a bulk food company before? Was it Zaycon Foods, and what was your experience?

I’m excited to see which meats will be available the next time they come to town.
