Thanks to Kia, I was provided a 2016 Kia Sorento Model SXL AWD to test drive and review for a week. Opinions expressed are that of my own and to the best of my knowledge all vehicle information is correct.
Three words immediately come to mind when I think of my test drive of the 2016 Kia Sorento Model SXL AWD – luxury, dependability, and space.
This fully loaded CUV, has 3 rows of seats, a panoramic sun/ moon roof, push button start with smart key, a smart hands free lift gate, and the list goes on and on.
I actually drove this vehicle to Orlando while participating in the Monkey Kingdom Event for Disney. I let the 2016 Kia Sorento Model SXL AWD do the navigating, and I arrived at my destination with no problems.
This vehicle gets 17 MPG in the city with 23 on the highway and with a full tank I was able to travel to and from my home without filling up (3 hours total). I still had not filled up when it was time for my Sorento to be picked up.
On my trip, I appreciated that I could charge my phone via the USB ports, and enjoyed the stereo with Infinity Surround Sounds by Harman. The Sorento also comes with a 3 month subscription to Sirius XM radio (ask dealer for details) plus via the Kia App Store can be synced with Yelp®7, while Soundhound, Pandora®8 and iHeart® Radio9 (late availability) come preloaded.
Located on the same screen as the the navigation and radio, I was also able to use the rear camera display. This was awesome when backing out of a driveway and at the grocery store parking lot. Not to mention, it was quite mesmerizing to my 3 kiddos in the 2nd row.
One of the things that I thought was really neat about this automobile was the Memory Drivers Seat Position. Especially when you have 2 people using the same vehicle, this option comes in handy and saves time. Trying to find the right position each time you get into drive can be a pain. My husband and I are prime examples of this.
I also liked the 2016 Kia Sorento Model SXL AWD safety features. There are Dual Front Advanced Airbags, Front Seat Mounted Side Airbags, and Side Curtain Airbags. My vehicle also had the Lane Departure Warning System and if I got too close to the lane line it would notify me.
As I mentioned previously, this Kia is roomy. The trunk easily fit my regular grocery haul and the luggage when I was traveling for my trip.
I had also had plenty of head and leg room as the driver and passenger and all 3 kids could sit comfortably in the second row. By that I mean, I could fit a car seat and 2 booster in the back seat.
Just a little more bout the 2016 Kia Sorento–
The starting MSRP is $24,900, and the one I drove is priced at $46,695. See dealer for pricing details.
It comes with standard premium features and luxurious amenities, and will be available across five trim levels – L, LX, EX, SX and SXL.
It has a 10 year/100,000 Mile Limited Powertrain Warranty as well as 5 year Roadside Assistance.
In addition, four UVO eServices are now available: Geo-fencing, Speed Alert, Curfew Alert and Driving Score3.
A little confession here: I also got to try out the Kia Roadside Assistance since one of my children switched on a light in the back seat. Needless to say the battery went dead. Long story short, they were friendly on the phone, a technician was here within 40 minutes, and I did not have to pay anything for the jump since it was under $75.
Have you ever driven a Kia Sorento before? What has your experience been with this brand?
