I took the kiddos to The Home Depot today to build bird houses during the FREE Kid’s Workshop event. I really love this program because it is great for hand eye coordination, I get to spend some quality time with my family, and the kids really have a great time building something.
We have been going to this now since 2011. Check out my Kid’s First Trip to a Home Depot Kid’s Workshop. Our First Trip To A Home Depot Kid’s Workshop!
Both my kids really wanted to do this workshop since we have been working on a raised garden to attract butterflies, and they thought this would be nice to add to the area to attract birds as well. Our location usually lets the kids paint the project as well and once they complete it, they get a pin and a certificate. From time to time there will also be free popcorn, cookies and drinks, and Chick-fil-A sometimes stops by with coupons for FREE Ice cream.
If you have not attended an event yet, they typically run from 9:00am – 12:00pm on the 1st Saturday of each month. Each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates’ aprons. It is on a first come first serve basis so arrive early. Source Home Depot
If you have not had a chance to take your kids, I highly recommend it because it is a lot of FUN. Here is a link to future workshops: Home Depot Kids Workshop
